HINTS and FAQ's

How to enter – either email or Facebook private message your entries to us. Be clear about which entry is for which class, and make sure you supply all of the information requested. All details can be found on the Entries page of our website. Some classes require additional information like horse age for example, the schedule will tell you if that is the case.

Rotation - make sure your videos and photos are the correct way up when they are sent to us.

Quality - It is the subject of the photo/video that is important, not the quality of it. However, very poor-quality photos/video will detract from the subject and make judging harder.

Collages - Many classes allow collage photos, it says on the schedule if they are allowed, these show off more than one image of your horse within a single photo entry. You must make your own collage; we don’t do it for you. Most mobile phones and tablets have a very simple app that makes the collages for you.

Which class - Read the description of each class thoroughly – it tells you exactly what the judge will be looking for. Make sure your picture/video represents the class requirement.

Recent /old photos & videos - Photos and video can be taken at any time they do not need to be recent. Please just ensure if you are entering a class that is restricted by age (horse or rider) that you give the age at the time they were taken.

Health issues/passed away/no longer owned horses - You can submit photos of any horse as long as you have the owner’s permission to do, if you used to be the owner and the photo was taken during ownership, that is fine too. We absolutely encourage entries where horse can no longer be competed in reality, the whole point of The Mane Show is to make showing accessible.

Video details- do make sure that you read the schedule and take note of the video length limits and whether or not it needs to be one continuous film.

Sending videos/links - You must either send the actual video (showing classes only) for us to upload to YouTube or you must ensure that the video link you send is viewable to the public.

Payment - PayPal is preferable for ease and security purposes but we will also accept bank transfers. If you wish to pay by bank transfer, you must inform us when you send your entries and we will reply with our bank details. In exceptional circumstance we will consider to taking payment by cheque if the show closing date timescales permit. Please ask for further details when submitting your entries.

General - All photos & video entries are uploaded to the public domain, and all are visible for anyone to see, download, share etc. Please be aware of this and ensure that you have sought permission of ALL appearing in the photo to use it.
